David Michael Buchanan: 

David met Robert Pirsig at the first Metaphysics of Quality Conference in Liverpool, England, 12/2005. Continuing on with his graduate studies in philosophy, for  his Thesis Buchanan compares Pirsig's work to the work of William James; "The pragmatism and radical empiricism of William James and Robert Pirsig."
